Description:

Have you ever wondered what a future-proof menu might look like? By 2050, nearly 10 billion people will inhabit the Earth. To ensure everyone can eat healthily and within planetary boundaries, we must start transforming our diets and agricultural systems today.

We are delighted to announce that this Veganuary, Dr. Marco Springmann, Senior Researcher at the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford, will be delving into these critical topics at the 16th DKFZ Sustainability Talk. Dr. Springmann has played a key role in the development of the groundbreaking EAT-Lancet Commission Planetary Health Diet, offering insights into how we can protect both human health and the planet through sustainable food systems. Through his role as Oxford University and as a Professorial Research Fellow at University College London?s Institute for Global Health, he conducts multi-disciplinary research that connects food systems, climate change, and public health. His research has been published in leading journals, including Nature, Science, The Lancet, the BMJ, and others. In addition, he has contributed to high-level reports, including those of the EAT-Lancet Commission on Healthy Diets from Sustainable Food Systems, the Lancet Countdown on Health and Climate Change, the Global Nutrition Report, and the UN Environment Programme?s Emissions Gap Report.
