Digital Cancer Prevention
About us
Today's digitized healthcare system, combined with a broad evidence base on cancer risk factors, offers great opportunities for personalized cancer prevention in Germany. The Digital Cancer Prevention working group at the National Cancer Prevention Center aims to advance primary prevention in Germany with user-centered digital tools and a research-supporting risk prediction platform.
Existing risk prediction models are curated and implemented in an app that enables citizens to assess their personal cancer risk and receive tailored information on preventable risk factors, including information on the statutory cancer screening programs in the country. Recommendations from clinical guidelines and the World Cancer Research Fund are integrated with an extensive collection of evidence-based and carefully selected literature. This knowledge base forms the basis for innovative algorithms to enable tailored content and personalize recommendations to reduce cancer risk. A consultation on individual cancer risk takes place in a personal meeting with the medical staff of the Prevention Outpatient Clinic .
We collaborate with various experts and involve stakeholders with the long-term goal of validating and optimizing risk prediction models based on collected user data and supporting researchers at the forefront of cancer prevention research by making sense of networked data and ensuring the interoperability of systems.
