Functional and Structural Genomics

For cancer to arise, multiple molecular changes need to happen in a cell. This Research Topic aims to molecularly characterize these changes in a comprehensive manner, at multiple levels (including genetic, epigenetic, proteomic, and metabolomic), and to understand the functional connection between these molecular changes and the cancer phenotype.

Our Research Topic

For cancer to arise, multiple molecular changes need to happen in a cell. This Research Topic aims to molecularly characterize these changes in a comprehensive manner, at multiple levels (including genetic, epigenetic, proteomic, and metabolomic), and to understand the functional connection between these molecular changes and the cancer phenotype. This involves developing and employing cutting-edge 'omic' technologies, systematically investigating the functions of cancer-relevant genes, and developing bioinformatic and mathematical methods to extract knowledge from large volumes of data. In doing so, the research in this Research Topic spans the range from basic to clinical-translational cancer research, and involves close interactions with other groups throughout the DKFZ and partner institutions.
