Legal Department
The Legal Department is responsible for all legal affairs at DKFZ not assigned to the departments Human Resources, Purchasing/Materials Logistics or Technical Infrastructure. It serves as an important interface to the Management Board, other scientific and administrative departments within DKFZ. In this context, there is close consultation and coordination of contracts especially with the Grants Office, the coordination units NCT and DKTK, the Clinical Trial Office, the Data Protection Office and the Technology Transfer Office.
The main tasks of the Legal Department include in particular:
- providing the Management Board with legal advice on complex and strategic questions and their implementation
- negotiating c contracts with partners from research and academic institutions and industry independently, in particular consortium agreements and third party funding agreements
- reviewing, drafting and independently negotiating contracts on clinical trials inside and outside the scope of the German “AMG” (Arzneimittelgesetz, Medicinal Products Act) and “MPG” (Medizinproduktegesetz, Medicinal Devices Act)
- providing other administrative departments with legal advice and support
- independent handling of essential claims and damages
- coordination and hiring of external legal services
- monitoring and implementing relevant developments in German and European legislation and jurisdiction
