Are you interested in joining the DKFZ as a Postdoctoral Researcher?

Join our more than 1,300 scientists who actively investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors, and endeavor to find new strategies to prevent people from getting cancer and make the treatment of cancer patients more successful. 

We want you to excel in your research and we will do our best to support you in mastering this very important phase of your scientific career.

Applications

If you are interested in starting your Postdoc at the DKFZ you can enter via one of the following routes:

1. Apply for a centrally-funded Postdoctoral Position at the DKFZ

We have various Fellowship offers to centrally fund postdoctoral positions. DKFZ Fellowships are awarded through competitive recruitment processes. Learn more about eligibility criteria, the application procedure, and funding modalities by clicking on the following modalities:

DKFZ Postdoctoral Fellowships (all research areas) - the call is currently closed. This year's interviews will take place in Heidelberg from November 4 to 6 2024. Next call will open in July 2025.

Dr. Rurainski Fellowship at DKFZ (cancer epigenetics research) - the call is currently closed. This year's interviews will take place in Heidelberg from November 4 to 6 2024.

The DKFZ-PMCC (Princess Margaret Cancer Center) international program for clinician and medical scientists in translational cancer reserach and medicine is part of the Clinician Scientist Program. The core-element of the program are joint tandem research projects between the DKFZ in Heidelberg and PMCC in Toronto. - call currently closed. Next call will open in January 2025.

2. Apply for a posted job opening

Contact the principal investigator of the DKFZ research group of your choice directly. Ask about existing job opportunities or discuss how you could bring in your postdoctoral fellowship via external funding.

The DKFZ Postdoc Program is the German Cancer Research Center’s central program to provide comprehensive support to young researchers while doing their postdoc at the center.

Highly talented young scientists from all over the world who wish to pursue research projects in basic and translational cancer research are welcome to join the program.

The DKFZ is a prime location to pursue basic and translational oncology research in one of its six research programs. Through the research divisions and groups, we provide access to cutting-edge research facilities and state-of-the-art labs. We foster personal career development of our postdoctoral researchers by offering a unique and tailored training portfolio and access to our DKFZ Career Center for Postdocs.
