Kurzbeschreibung
MARIE ist eine bevölkerungsbezogene Fall-Kontroll-Studie mit über 10.000 Teilnehmerinnen, die in den Jahren 2002 bis 2005 durchgeführt wurde, um mögliche Risikofaktoren für die Entstehung von Brustkrebs nach den Wechseljahren zu ermitteln. Im Zeitraum 2009 – 2010 fand ein Follow-up der Krebspatientinnen statt (MARIEplus). Die gemeinsame Leitung der Studien liegt bei Prof. Dr. Jenny Chang-Claude und bei Prof. Dr. Dieter Flesch-Janys (bis 2018) und Prof. Dr. Heiko Becher (seit 2019).
Unsere Gruppe untersuchte unter Leitung von Prof. Dr. Karen Steindorf in MARIE und MARIEplus das körperliche Aktivitätsverhalten vor und nach der Diagnose der Teilnehmerinnen und dessen Auswirkung auf das Krebsrisiko, biologische Mechanismen, sowie das allgemeine und krankheitsfreie Überleben.
Darüber hinaus untersuchten wir in MARIEplus krebsbedingte Fatigue und die Lebensqualität. Ziel unserer Forschung ist ein besseres Verständnis der zugrundeliegenden Ursachen, der Einflussfaktoren und der verschiedenen Ausprägungen von Fatigue, um damit eine effektivere Behandlung zu ermöglichen.
