I am neurobiologist with a strong interest in neurovascular development. I lead a research project investigating neurovascular interactions during mouse brain development. I have described how nascent vessels contact neural stem cells and regulate their activity in the mouse embryonic brain (Di Marco et al., 2020). Using genetic and pharmacological mouse models, Spatial Transcriptomics, and single-cell RNA sequencing, I currently identify the molecular factors involved in the interaction between endothelial and neural stem cells. Additionally, I am exploring how subtle disruptions in the interplay between angiogenesis and neurogenesis during embryonic development may impact brain formation and function. My research aims to deepen our understanding of neurovascular coupling and its implications for brain development and neurodevelopmental disease.
