Template Department page
A concise and well-formulated introductory text (stage description) makes a decisive contribution to arousing the reader's interest and making a professional first impression. The text should be as short and concise as possible and clearly emphasise the scientific focus of your department.
Our Research
In this content area you have the opportunity to provide detailed insights into the research work of your department:
Present research priorities
Present the central research questions and topics of your department. Describe the main areas and specific questions being researched in your department. This will give visitors a clear overview of what your research is all about.
Current developments
Emphasise important current research findings. Make sure to present scientific findings in such a way that a wider audience can also understand them.
Methods and technologies
Explain any special methods or technologies used in your department. This helps to emphasise the expertise of your department and show how you achieve your research goals.
Goals and societal relevance
Explain the overarching goal your department is pursuing with its research and what contribution it is making to cancer research and the fight against cancer. This makes it clear what added value your research has for society and how it fits into the overall picture of the German Cancer Research Centre.
The information should be updated regularly to make new projects and developments visible.
Use of Images
Use the opportunity to place suitable images on your department pages to convey complex scientific content, for example. A research focus, illustrated by a suitable image or diagram, is often easier to remember and helps to arouse and retain the reader's interest.
A page that consists solely of text quickly becomes overwhelming and does not invite readers to continue reading. Images loosen up the layout and give the page more dynamism and structure. The eye can ‘dock’ onto visual elements and intuitively find its way through the text. Photos of the team, projects or research facilities provide a personal insight into the work of the department. Such visual insights create an emotional connection and make the scientific work more tangible. This also strengthens confidence in the professionalism and seriousness of the department.
Images encourage users to linger longer on the site and engage more intensively with the content. Especially in research communication, it is important to keep the reader's attention so that complex content is fully absorbed.
