Further hints
- Certificate of enrolment: this document is an official document from your university that applies to the current academic year/session and confirms that you are officially enrolled as a student at this institution now.
- Your own motivation letter: the motivation letter should be addressed to the hosts of the summer school. Please clearly explain why you should be accepted and why you would benefit from the course. Therefore, please link the contents of the summer school to your own background and future plans. General motivation letters (e.g. for job positions) won't be accepted.
Please note: The summer school is designed for young scientists (usually younger than 30 years old) and not for experienced researchers. If you are e.g. older than 30 years old or if you already have a PhD or MD degree and consider yourself as "young researcher"/"young clinical trainee", please clearly explain in your motivation letter why you consider yourself as a "young scientist" or young clinical trainee and why you should be accepted. - The recommendation letters: the recommendation letter should be addressed to the hosts of the summer school and it should be written on the official layout/design of the person's institute. Furthermore, the affiliation and the contact details of the writing person must be clearly indicated on the letter as well as the signature (either manually or digitally). In the recommendation letter, the writing person (e.g. your professor or boss) should explain why you fit as a candidate for the summer school. A general recommendation letter without any link to the summer school won't be accepted.
Science Slam and Poster Session
Applicants can decide if they would like to participate in the Science Slam and in the Poster Session to present their own current research projects, which have a link to the topic of the summer school. Topics with a wider outlook than the summer school would be greatly appreciated too. Feel free to contact the local organizing team if you are unsure whether your research project can be accepted.
Please submit a short abstract of max. 500 words as one PDF via the application portal (plus max 5 references, not counted towards the limit of 500 words) following the categories "Purpose"/"Introduction", "Material and Methods", "Results" and "Conclusion".
Participating in the science slam or poster session is optional; you can also submit your application for the summer school without participating in the science slam or poster session.
After reviewing all abstracts, the hosts, course leaders and the local coordinating team will finally assign abstracts for the science slam and the poster session.
