Further hints
- Please be aware that our summer school takes place completely in English. So, for the participation in our course good English language skills are required. Please take into account that during the course you should be able to prepare and give a short presentation. Furthermore, both mandatory online test and the exam (online and on-site) will be also in English.
- Certificate of enrolment: this document is an official document from your university that applies to the current academic year/session and confirms that you are officially enrolled as a student at this institution now. This certificate is only required for students.
- Your own motivation letter: the motivation letter must be written in English and addressed to the course leaders of the summer school (Prof. Caprile Etchart & Prof. Jäkel). Please clearly explain why you should be accepted and why you would benefit from the course. Therefore, please link the contents of the summer school to your own background and future plans. General motivation letters (e.g. for job positions) won't be accepted.
- The recommendation letters: the recommendation letter must be written in English and addressed to the course leaders of the summer school and it should be written on the official layout/design of the person's institute. Furthermore, the affiliation and the contact details of the writing person must be clearly indicated on the letter as well as the signature (either manually or digitally). In the recommendation letter, the writing person (e.g. your professor or boss) should explain why you fit as a candidate for the summer school. A general recommendation letter without any link to the summer school won't be accepted.
- The summer school is designed for young scientists or professionals and not for experienced researchers. If you are interested in the summer school, but older than e.g. 30 years old, please clearly explain in your motivation letter why you consider yourself as a "young scientist" or "young professional" and why you should be accepted. If you are unsure, please contact the course organizing team before submitting your application documents.
Poster Session
Applicants can decide if they would like to participate in the Poster Session to present their current research projects which have a link to the topic of the summer school. Topics with a wider outlook than the summer school would be greatly appreciated too. Feel free to contact the course organizing team if you are unsure whether your research project can be accepted.
Please submit a short abstract of max. 500 words as one PDF via the application portal (plus max. 5 references, not counted towards the limit of 500 words) following the categories "Purpose"/"Introduction", "Material and Methods", "Results" and "Conclusion".
Participating in the poster session is optional i.e. you can also submit your application for the summer school without participating in the poster session.
After reviewing all abstracts, the course leaders and the course organization team will finally select abstracts for the poster session.
