Omics IT and Data Management

Dr. Ivo Buchhalter
The Omics IT and Data Management Core Facility (ODCF) provides high-throughput computing, data management and basic bioinformatics services to groups at the DKFZ and their collaborating partners.

Omics IT and Data Management Core Facility (ODCF)
The Omics IT and Data Management Core Facility (ODCF) provides high-throughput computing and structured data management solutions to support modern omics research. As life sciences increasingly rely on large-scale, high-throughput technologies such as genomics, proteomics, and epigenomics, effective data handling becomes critical to ensuring reproducibility and long-term usability.
At the ODCF, we enable researchers to store, process, and share their sequencing and other research data securely and efficiently. Our services include data management solutions tailored to high-throughput experiments and scalable computing resources to support complex analyses. A key aspect of our work is ensuring that data is well-structured, systematically annotated, and accompanied by rich metadata. This enhances data reuse, facilitates collaboration, and supports compliance with FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) principles.
Through a combination of high-throughput infrastructure and robust data governance strategies, we help research groups maximize the value of their data. Our facility serves DKFZ researchers as well as collaborating partners by providing seamless access to computing resources and tools optimized for large-scale biomedical datasets. By integrating data management best practices, we contribute to accelerating discoveries and ensuring that valuable research data remains accessible and meaningful for future studies.
