Why Heidelberg?
Heidelberg is a town of many faces. On the one hand, the Neuenheimer Feld, where our division is located, hosts one of Germany's top science campuses, where the DKFZ, Heidelberg University, the infamous Heidelberg University Hospital (all known for their excellence in medicine) and a number of biotech companies reside within walking distance of each other. What you'll find here is an extraordinary abundance of state-of-the art research facilities in a multidisciplinary environment that bundles a wide spectrum of expertise in one high-density research location. Feel free to take a walk across campus and discover for yourself what makes this place unique! On the other hand, if you want to broaden your mind beyond the natural sciences, just across the Neckar river, the historical old town and castle beckon with a rich history and tradition that have entranced the likes of J.W. von Goethe, Mark Twain, Hannah Arendt, and Thomas Mann. Surrounded by stunningly beautiful nature, Heidelberg is a vibrant student town that captures the imagination of visitors and residents alike. With a number of activities both within and outside the DKFZ and Heidelberg University, we can assure you: here, student life never gets boring.
