Immunogenomics

Dr. Edward Green

Teamleader

"By applying automation and machine learning, we're building platforms that scale up to meet patient needs."

Teamleader: Edward ‘Ed’Green

Only recently have immunology questions begun to be addressed by systems biology approaches, generating enormous datasets that can be challenging to understand. The immunogenomics team is involved in implementing these cutting edge methods within the lab, and applying them to improve patient therapy and tracking within the Platten Lab’s clinical trials.  Our interests include:

  • Personalised cell therapies (applying machine learning to single-cell datasets),
  • Diagnostics (TCR repertoire analysis, NGS pipelines),
  • Synthetic Biology (high-throughput DNA manufacture and screening),
  • Cancer Vaccines (vaccine development and delivery optimisation),
  • Nanopore sequencing (accelerating patient sample analysis)

We strive to make our work accessible to other scientists; check out our recent tools at https://predicTCR.com or https://makeTCR.com.

Join us

The Immunogenomics team is small and highly collaborative. We welcome applications talented MSc or PhD students with a passion for problem solving; applicants typically bring prior experience in either:

  • coding (R/Python, pipelines or developing web frontends for tools),
  • single cell analysis (10X Genomics as well as other platforms),
  • high throughput molecular biology (96 or 384 well based assays, or pooled formats),
  • T cell immunology (experience with FACS or co-culture assays),
  • NGS sequencing (Illumina, Nanopore etc)

Alumni from the team have gone on to gain positions at top institutes around the world, including Harvard, MIT, TUM, EMBL, Uni Zurich and more.

Alumni

  • Liza Chernova – completed a MSc rotation and is now on an MSc rotation with Nobel Laureate David Baker’s lab in U.Wash.
