Dr. Habibollah Arefian is a health economist and an epidemiologist with wide experience in health economic evaluations, especially in health economic modelling and evidence synthesis. His health economic research explores the cost effectiveness analyses, the development and specification of advanced budget impact models, as well as social cost value analyses.

Prior to his arrival at the DKFZ, Habibollah worked as researcher at the Jena University Hospital (UKJ) in Germany. His work at the UKJ included a variety of research projects, such as health economic evaluation of interventional and non-interventional studies, health economic cost-effectiveness modelling, estimation of extra length of stay attributable to healthcare-associated infections, systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

He has a PhD (Dr. rer. nat.) from the Friedrich-Schiller University of Jena in Germany and a master's degree in Epidemiology from the Charité - University Medicine Berlin, Germany.
