About Domenico

Domenico obtained his B.Sc. from the University of Maastricht. His thesis project addressed the molecular mechanisms of pancreatic cancer progression, which contributed to the discovery of a blood-borne biomarker that aids in early detection and differential diagnosis. Following his bachelor studies, he specialized in clinical experimental cancer research and tumor immunology at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In the scope of his Master's degree in Oncology, he wrote his thesis at the Fior Lab of the Champalimaud Foundation on the pharmacological modulation of the colorectal cancer tumor immune microenvironment in larval zebrafish xenografts. He joined the Gerstung Lab in 2022 as a Ph.D. student to investigate the role and evolution of tumor-immune interactions in metastatic cancer using spatial genomics.
