Dr. Christos Sachpekidis

Christos Sachpekidis is Professor of Nuclear Medicine at the University of Heidelberg and Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. He received his medical degree from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, in 2008 and his doctorate in medicine from the Medical Faculty of the Ruprecht-Karls University of Heidelberg, Germany, in 2016. He qualified in nuclear medicine in 2019. After his habilitation in 2022, he became Assistant Professor of Nuclear Medicine and Full Professor (APL Professor) at the University of Heidelberg in 2024.
He has worked in various clinics in Greece, Germany and Switzerland, specialising in nuclear medicine and radiology. His research interests are mainly related to his ten years of experience at the DKFZ in Heidelberg and focus on diagnosis, prognosis and response assessment in oncological diseases, mainly multiple myeloma, malignant melanoma and prostate cancer, using PET/CT. He is also active in emerging areas of molecular imaging, including new radioligands, AI-based applications in PET imaging, PET/MRI and LAFOV (Long-Axial Field of View) PET/CT.
He is the author of 115 published articles. He is a member of several editorial boards and a reviewer for several scientific journals.
