Molecular and cellular heterogeneity in health and disease
We are interested in analyzing heterogeneity at the molecular and cellular level. Our main interest is the investigation of inter- and intrapatient heterogeneity of tumors and their microenvironment. To this end, we are using next-generation sequencing techniques and bioinformatic analyses to understand the role of differences at the genomic and transcriptomic level and in the cellular composition of the tumor samples.
Curriculum vitae
Lena obtained her PhD at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, investigating subpopulations of molecules by using single molecule fluorescence techniques. During a short research stay at the European Commission – Joint Research Centre, Lena extended her research towards open questions in oncology. While working in the Precision Diagnostics lab at IBM Research in Zurich, she developed techniques for the spatial analysis of tumor tissue sections. Currently, Lena is working as a team leader in the field of Applied Bioinformatics at the German Cancer Research Center.
